Dear Community Members,
Baruch Hashem, we have a Kosher Eruv in West Houston that was certified today by Rabbi Shalom Ber Shuchat of NY.
In order to make use of the eruv, there are 3 conditions that must be met by community members that would like to use the eruv. Please keep in mind the eruv will be checked weekly to ensure it is still up.
1) Sign up for the alerts that will be sent every Shabbat to know if the eruv is up and kosher for the week. You may only carry if you receive and read the message before Shabbat that the eruv is up. Click here to be added to the list.
2) Memorize the attached map and have in mind that there are a few places on the borders where you would not be able to carry on the side walks. Through familiarizing yourself with the boundaries, you will not come to desecrate Shabbat.
3) It is Important to realize that not every city in the world has a Kosher eruv. Please educate your children that just because there is an eruv here, they would need to make sure in any other neighborhood to confirm there is a kosher eruv up in order to use it for Shabbat.
