Shining as One for 25 years!
$250,000 for 25 years!
This year marks our 25th year, for our family, as Chabad Shluchim to the Houston Community.
From December 10-14, we will be hosting our annual crowdfunding matching campaign. Our goal will be to raise 250,000 in 96 hours in honor of our 25 years!
• In 1998 I was appointed to be a program coordinator for Chabad Outreach of Houston and initiated the Living Legacy programs enabled thousands of children, to interact with holidays and Mitzvahs in a hands on, experiential way and my wife Elisa began her 23 year teaching career at Torah Day School.
• In 2000, I became director of Camp Gan Israel Houston and, ten years later, was promoted to the Administrative Director position. In 2000, I was appointed Rabbi of the Richmond State School and continue until this day to visit and bring happiness of Jewish song, story and food to the adults with Special needs.
• In 2003 I founded a Spanish Learning group which is now Called Jabad Latinos. That same year I was motivated to co-found the Houston Friendship Circle to bring joy to the special needs community of children.
• In 2005 I was appointed the Lead Jewish Consulting Rabbi of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
• In 2006 Received the Harold Reingold Yavneh award from the Bureau of Jewish Education for his outstanding educational contributions to the Greater Houston Jewish community. This same year we began programming in West Houston which led to the establishing of Chabad of West Houston four years later.
• In 2007 I became the Rabbi at the Menninger Clinic, one of the country’s top mental health hospital.
• In 2016 Purchased the Chabad of West Houston building on Whittington. In the midst of Covid, our family moved to West Houston to develop a full time community.
• In 2022 founded the JLI Houston Wellness Institute to spread awareness and education about mental health within the Jewish community.
• In 2023 my wife Elisa graduated as an accomplished teacher with being a Teacher of the Year from the BJE and joined Chabad of West Houston fulltime as we work together to continue to build and expand the community on the West Side. Programs include a robust Sunday School, programs and social opportunities for Jewish teens, holiday and Shabbat Services and meals, Torah classes for both men and women, Bar/Bat Mitzvah ceremonies and celebrations and social events for Seniors.
Elisa and I are grateful for Hashem's blessings and are grateful for the Rebbe's guidance and blessings throughout the last 25 years. We are grateful to all our family, Rabbis, friends, and partners for helping us establish crucial programming for the Houston Community so that no one feels left behind. The Rebbe has taught that we must not be satisfied with our accomplishments but must forge on and double our efforts. May Hashem bless us with good health as we look forward to many more years of accomplishments and reaching our goal of bringing Moshiach!
